‘Data Correlation’ Coffee Roast

Our Data Correlation Roast is a Ugandan single origin Arabica coffee, created using only the finest coffee beans that are sourced within a strict, organic-certified supply chain. Great measures are taken to purchase, at a fair price, our coffee beans from small scale farmers across Uganda who have a commitment to preserve their soil and to practice sustainable harvesting and processing practices.

Why was it important to only use high-quality, ethnically sourced coffee?

Everything we do, everything we create, is a reflection of our brand, our values, and our commitment to doing things differently. Our dedication to quality and our focus on creating amazing experiences can be found in everything we do from the analytics services we deliver, to the children’s books we authored, to creating high-end coffee to share with our closest friends. That’s why when we decided to create a 33 Sticks branded coffee, we couldn’t do it any other way but the absolute best.

To create such a high quality coffee, we worked with the team at Carico Global to source only the finest quality coffee available in the world, but even that wasn’t good enough, we wanted to make sure that the coffee that we purchased also had an immensely positive impact on the communities where the coffee is grown. Carico Global was the only coffee importer we could find that aligned with our goals, our values, and our mission to have a positive impact on the world.

UGANDAN BUGISU COFFEE

Bugisu is home to almost 20% of the world’s coffee farmers, Uganda’s coffee is prized for its taste and versatility which means it ends up as an ingredient for some of the world’s most known coffee blends. Only now is it being put to the forefront globally as single origin. Carico’s coffees are naturally farmed, inter-cropped and grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Grown under shade of indigenous trees, this allows the coffee fruit to grow and ripen slowly. The result is a harder bean which is then hand-picked when optimally ripe and then processed at a co-operative using a more delicate process known as wet-processing and are regularly turned as they dry in the sun.

 Our Process

Being analysts by trade, we took a very structured, analytical approach, taste testing over 50 different combinations of hand selected single origin beans and roaster combinations, to produce the Data Correlation Roast.

To ensure the integrity of our analysis, we carefully controlled for bean weight, water temperature, grind size, and brew time, as we evaluated each bean + roaster combination across several different preparation methods including espresso, pour over, and percolator.

The result is a high-quality cup of coffee that reflects the very nature of who we are and offers a beautiful experience that we can share with only our closet of friends.

Why was it so important for us to go through such a demanding process just to create bags of coffee that we are going to give away? The answer is easy, we don’t know how to do it any different. Our focus on value and quality comes across in everything that we produce. We go beyond just doing the job to become true artisans of what we do, creating amazing and memorable experiences for everyone that joins us on our journey.

The Roast

As with anything in life, starting with high quality ingredients is critical to producing a great final product but it’s the artistry in transforming those ingredients that truly creates not only a great product but an amazing experience.

And because creating amazing experiences is a core part of our role in the world, our reason for existing, a generic big box coffee roaster just wasn’t going to work for us. So we set out on a journey to find a roaster that aligned with our culture and purpose.
